Our time is “now” Texas

Seeing the destruction of Mexico because of the on-going drug war. It’s time to realize the importance of debating the issue of Cannabis legalization.

The idea of legalizing Cannabis in Mexico has gained increasingly popularity.Analysts say the shift, which echoes an increasing openness to legalization in the United States outside of Texas, is both a function of changing attitudes towards Cannabis and growing public frustration with the violence of Mexico’s drug war.

Thousands have lost there life’s, last count being 28,000 people in the past four years; 6,000 people have been killed in Ciudad Jua’rez alone, just across the boarder from El Paso, since 2008.Havent enough life’s been lost?

The debate on legalization of Cannabis may be a difficult issue for Mexico when it’s northern neighbor, Texas is against legalization. Mexico could not do that unilaterally without provoking a very strong political reaction from the United States.

While attitudes towards legalization have slowly been changing in the U.S. , We haven’t moved fast enough to really make any long lasting impact on the devastating effects of the on-going drug war.

Although fourteen states, and now Washington, D.C. have legalized Medical Cannabis; Texas has been slow to re-act on Medical Cannabis Reform. If we were to legalize medical use of Cannabis in the border states and surrounding areas, wouldn’t we have a better chance to change Mexico’s Drug War too?

Whether legalization of Cannabis would serve to curve the cartels violence in Mexico remains a subject of debate. But legalization could change the nature of the flight. Drugs are so much more profitable than any other form of illicit activity. You take away that profitability, and you cripple the organizations ability to corrupt the state…
